ReplyDelete1. In my opinion Max agrees with his father about the swear because his father swore on the bible suposively. Also because it was dark and maybe Max couldn't see that well. Finally he probably was scared to say that he didn't believe his father because he is strong and big. When Max's dad told the story about "injustice" it showed that his dad is strong and he isn't very afraid of what happened to him in jail. Even though Killer Kane had "tears" coming down his cheeks, Max could tell that he was not crying because his voice sounded normal.

ReplyDeleteI opinion I think that max is afraid of his father so he will say or do any thing that his dad wants him to do. In my opinion killer Kane tells about his injustices as if he was the victom and that the police made it look like he was the bad guy when he was not.

I think Max believes his father, who says “I Kenneth David Kane, do swear by all that’s Holy that I did not murder this boy’s mother..." because he is so terrified of him he is just agreeing with every statement that he makes. The story Kenny "Killer" Kane tells about the “injustice” that was done to him because he swore that he did not kill Max’s Mom and that would not be fair if he was put in jail for something that he did not do. That would not be good for his reputation as a person because nobody would want to be a friend of his. It would not be good for his reputation as a father because you need love to have joy and family is love and support, so if your family doesn’t know good stuff about you they will not love you therefore you will have no joy in your life.

ReplyDelete1. I think Max agrees with his father that he was framed because of shock and fear. He was slightly shocked that his dad pulled out a bible and swore on it. The bible is holy and sacred, so swearing and hoping to die on it if he was lying is somewhat believable, and surprising. He also agreed because he is smarter than he thinks, and knows what the consequences are if he doesn’t believe his dad. You notice this because when Max gives the slightest way of not knowing what to say to make his dad happy, his father snaps and puts a dangerous edge in his voice. I think that what “Killer Kane” said about the “real” injustice done is fake, but he wants to raise his child up so he tries to tell Max something to believe. This tells me that “Killer Kane” has potential to be a great person, but chooses the wrong road of his life. He most likely is lying about him not killing Max’s mom, and is trying to have Max believe and love him. I think “Killer Kane” wants to be a great father, but has no idea how to do it. Instead of asking for time with Max from Grim and Gram, he kidnaps him and breaks multiple laws again. In his speech, he uses false emotion like him crying, even though you can tell they are artificial and not from the heart. He tries to make himself look like the good guy by lying and faking. He wants Max to trust him, so they can bond like he has always wanted.

ReplyDeleteMax agrees with his father when he swears he didn’t murder Max’s mother. He does because Killer Kane puts his hand heavily over the book, the Bible, and his other hand over his heart. Killer Kane ‘cried’ too. I also think Max would be scared his dad would hurt him if he disagreed.
The story Killer Kane told about the injustice that was done to him showed he was a dishonest person and terrible father. For example, in the book it says that there were tears on his face but no crying in his voice, showed that he probably used an eyedropper and therefore was lying. Killer Kane put on this whole show saying the grandparents never gave him (Max) the presents he sent him and how the police ‘stole’ his life. Killer Kane just ends with a “satisfied?” like he just said all that to prove he was right and made a good enough apology, and then went right back to bed. A real distraught person would have stayed up all night worrying, trying to prove that he was right.

In my opinion Max’s father persuades Max to agree with him by somehow creating “tears” and you can assume Killer Kane created the tears by when Rodman Philbrick says ‘There’s no crying in his voice, you can’t hear it there, but sure enough there are tears all over his face.’ This makes me think that Killer Kane, as a father, would be rude because he always calls Max “Boy.” As a person I think nobody would “hang out” with Killer Kane because everybody knows who he is and for him that’s not a very good thing.

ReplyDelete2. The injustice as a father is that they don't let have some sort of contact with his son. For example in page 111 killer Kane asks "I bet they never gave you the presents, did they? and max respond "No, sir they didn't". So that shows they interfere in there relationship. The injustice as a person is that he has been looked up for all those years in that dark room.

ReplyDelete1. I think Max believes his father because he probably was scared and did not want to get on his fathers bad side. Who knows what Kenny Kane would have done if Max did not agree.
2. The story Kenny Killer Kane tells about the "injustice " that was done it tells me that he as a person and father was just trying to "look" after Max ( or so he thought) and he was probably just making a lot of it up. it tells me that he is not very kind and loving like he claims to be.

Also, because he started to cry, but his voice didn’t sound scratchy, like how you voice sounds when you do cry. I think he was faking because his voice wasn’t scratchy.
2. The story tells about “Killer Kane” as a person and a father, is that he cares about Max but he doesn’t know how to show it. “Killer Kane” loves Max, and he wants to spend more time with him because he doesn’t know him very well, and because he has been in jail for so long. Also as a person I think he doesn’t make the right decision because he doesn’t do the right things he has to “pay the price” for the bad things he has done.

ReplyDelete1. I think Max agrees with Killer Kane because he is scared of him and since his dad is really strong, you never know what he might do to you if you don't agree. Also Killer Kane asked if Max was "satisfied" and Max basically had no choice but to agree. I think Killer Kane knows that Max is not the sharpest tool in the shed, so he pretended to cry and he thought that would convince Max that he was sincere.
2. The story that his father tells shows that he is well known for being a murderer. Also it shows that he is trying to gain trust from Max by saying how badly people treated him and how the "geezers" poisoned Max's mind by telling him the wrong things. He is trying to convince Max with the tears and the stories that he is right.
I think Max believes his father when he swears that he didn't murder his mother because he swore on the bible and said may God strike me dead which means that he must be acting serious. also Max saw "tears" in his father's eyes which made him believe more but also heard no emotion in his voice which also makes him suspicious. The story Kenny Kane tells about the "injustice" done to him tells you about him as a person and a father. it tells you that he wants to start a new life but also shows you that Kenny is eager to get Max to believe him that he was told the wrong stuff.

The “injustice” that Kenny explains in his kill Max’s mom, but it wasn’t a real cry. Max’s dad plays a lot of tricks on lots of people, and this was one of them. When someone cries they have this crying voice and Kenny didn’t have that but Max story relates to him as a person and a father because Kenny starts “crying” when he says he didn’t didn’t want to point that out because again he is scared of his dad. Earlier on in the book Gram and Grim talk about how Kenny fooled them and Annie, but they wouldn’t let that happen again. This proves that Kenny plays tricks to make them believe a lie not the truth. Kenny wouldn’t be a good grown up to look up to because his is a criminal, he plays a lot of bad tricks on people, and is so strong and tall everyone is scared of him. I think that is why the judge put Max with his mom’s parents not his dads, just in case his dads parents were like his dad.

He shares what prison has done to him by torturing him and that he is not guilty. In my opinion he is not a good person and he deserved to go to prison and back again. he should have not married Annie and had a kid because he is not a good father.

That is because he was worried that Killer Kane would hurt him. For example, in the book, it said that Kenny tied Max up in the old lady’s house. He was afraid that his father would hurt him even more (physically).
2) When Killer Kane was telling his story about not killing Max’s mother, he was “crying”. Max said that you could see tears, but you couldn’t hear them. Almost every time you really cry, your voice sort of gets choked up, and you can’t really talk right. It said in the book that Killer Kane’s voice stayed the same even though he was crying. In my opinion, Kenny is not crying. That tells me as a father, that he will go over the line to act, and tell lies just to get people (like his son) to believe him. As a father, that means, if Max finds out he has lied to him more than once, Max might not believe him, and trust his father anymore.

The story tells that Kenny Kane wants everybody to agree with him and like him. In the story it says that everybody assumed Kenny killed his wife just because he was big and scary.

ReplyDelete1In my opinion max went along with his dad because he new his dad cud have hurt him badly.I also believe that killer kane put fake tears on his eyes so it would look like he was crying but you have to remember that he woke max up so he had plenty of time to put them on his eyes. Also max doesn't believe him about swearing on the bible
