ReplyDelete1. the "magic" about their quests is that Freak s imagining that every building is a castle so he is going back to medieval times so he can teach Max to use your brain like you want it to be used.

ReplyDelete1. Freak gets Max out of his room by yelling words like "wonka-wonka" to Max like an alarm clock would do to wake you up. He does the same thing everytime, so Max probobly would get sick of it when he says it every morning, and gets out of bed quickly. The thing that is "magical" about their quest is the belif that Kevin has that it actually is magical, and it is Max's first friend that he is having a good time with so it feels good and "magical."
2A. I think it is so important for Freak to show Max the hospital because he not only is showing a medical research place, he is opening up to Max how much science and robots mean to him, and where he has been going to.
2B. In my opinion, that is Freak's dream to be the first bioniclly equiped human, so he goes there and thinks about it happening, and thinks it is real because you can"remember anything, even if it didn't happen." He dreams of that coming true and remembers it as if it happened so he tells Max that to make himself feel like it is even more real. He wants to belive it so badly, so he creates that in his head and belives it in there.

ReplyDelete1. Freak gets Max out of his room by coming over and banging on the bulkhead door and saying "get out of bead you lazy beast!" The magic about their quests is that if you are just walking down the sidewalk Freak makes you believe that you are on a dangerous bridge made of vines that hangs up in the air over a deep canyon and it seems so real. He pretends that a regular house is a secret castle and stuff like that.
A. It is important for Freak to take Max to see the hospital because Freak has loved robots for a long time and in daycare with leg braces on he said that he was "robot man." So it would basically make his dreams come true to be the first human-robot That hospital will change his life.
B. In my opinion Freak does believe that he will be the "first bionically improved human" by having a body transplant because the new body will not be a real body, it will be a body manufactured by humans technically making it a fake body. Therefore it could possibly be called a robot.

ReplyDelete1. Freak get Max out of his room by coming every morning pounds on Maxs door and shouts " Wonka-wonka-wonka. Get out of bed you lazy beast. There are fair maidens to rescue! Dragongs to slay!"(page 44)Max is happy that Freak does that and makes him get up and out of the "Down Under" because if Freak didn't do that Max would be watching the "tube" and not moving fro his room all summer long. The thing that is magic about their quests is that when they cross the street Max closes his eyes and they walk across the street using a compus, not looking where they are going and somehow they make it across without getting run over by a car or being hurt.
2-A. In my opinion it is so important for Freak to take Max to the hospital because if those people are really going to give Freak the ability to not be disabled in phsical things he could run, walk, ride a bike, and do so many other things that he couldn't do before and that is a big deal, if Max didn't know that he would still think that Freak couldn't run, jump, or do other things.

Yes Freak really belives that he will be "the first bionically improved human" by having body transplant because he said to Max "i've been in there, i have to go every few months for tests, they been taking my measurements, analyzed my blood and metabolic rates. Freak gets max out of his room by doing the same things every morning, he bangs on the bulkhead, he makes this noise wonka-wonka-wonka, then he shouts with a lot of enthusiastic “Get outta bed, you lazy beast” and then obviously max gets out of bed. In summary he wakes max up with his bright spirit of the everyday morning. The “magic” about their quests in the summer is that they use their imagination to make them look like dangerous or important quests. For example in page 48 it says “Freak likes to make things up as he goes along. You think you are just walking in this ordinary side walk and really you are crossing this dangerous bridge, the kind made of vine that hangs high up in the air over a deep canyon, and when Freak makes it up it seems so real, you are afraid to look down or you will get dizzy an fall off the side walk”. Or like on page 51 that Freak says that blood is saliva just without the red, so max needs to spit on his hand to look like his swearing by blood.
2. A. In my opinion it is so important to freak to take Max to see the hospital because he is going to have a body transplant so maybe he wants to let him know his body is going to look different after the operation.

A. I think that it is so important for Freak to show Max the hospital because that is where he will get a new body and it could possibly be a new feature for him and Max. Also if they get made fun of for their disabilities then freak will be normal sized. another thing is that so Max knows the reason Freak is obsessed with robots and that stuff.
B. Yes, I think that Freak really has confidence in himself that he will be the first bionically improved human by the way he talked to Max. Also though, He did also sound so confident that he might be not so sure deep down inside.

Max carries Freak to the destinatioon and thats how he gets exercize instead of playing video games the whole summer. To me the thing that is "magic" specifically about the quest to the hospital is it can create hope for the survival of Freak. Also, some are secret places so it also can create trust which is a MAJOR thing you need in a friendship and probably the most important.
2a. I think it was so important for Freak and Max to visit the Hospital because Freak gained more trust in Max to keep the secret.
2b. In my opinion Freak does believe that he will be the first bionically improoved human because he keeps saying "Its true!" To Max.

ReplyDelete1. Freak gets Max out of his room by playing with him outside. It is more fun to be with a friend than to sit in a room alone and read comics or watch the "tube". The magic about their quest is that they get to be together, a great team of friends. Also, Freak turns their world magical as they walk around the town by calling houses castles, sidewalks bridges ect.
2. I think it is important for Freak to take Max to the hospital because having a new body and not being disabled anymore means a lot to him, he wants to share this information with his only close friend, someone that he can trust (Max).

I think this because he always talks and reads about robots which would give him more knowledge on his next body. If he didn't believe that he would switch bodies he probably wouldn't use all his time to learn so much on robots.

ReplyDelete1) The magic in Freak and Max’s quests are that Freak is bringing Max out of his “misery” in the “Down Under”. When Freak gets Max out of his room, he teaches him things, helps him with imagining things, and entertaining him. He is getting Max out of his room to do something other than watch TV, and read comic books all day. Freak is sort of bringing Max back into society, by dragging him away from Max’s prison, where he basically locks himself up in everyday (not that Freak is really “normal”). Freak gets Max out of his room by acting like it’s a joke, because he says every morning, “Get outta bed, you lazy beast! There are fair maidens to rescue! Dragons to save!”
2) In my opinion, Freak thinks that it is very important to show Max the medical hospital, because he was probably excited about the transplant, so he wanted someone other than his mom to tell about it, and share the excitement with. That is because on page 52, it said that Freak’s voice was getting high and excited.
3) In my opinion, yes, Freak really believes that he will be the first bionically improved human. That’s because again, he was very excited when he and Max were talking about the transplant. Also, when Max thought that he was kidding, he named all the tests doctors did on him. He seems very enthusiastic about getting the body transplant. That is why I think Freak really believes he’s going to be the first bionically improved human.

2b. In my opinion I really believe Freak thinks he will be an improved bionic human because Freak is interested in bionics and he has always acted like a robot at daycare when he was younger. He is excited because he believes his physical disabilities will go away. He has faith that the surgery will work and he will be able to do the physical things he has always wanted to do.
